when no matter what you do nothing
will change
unless someone else desires the change you
see as so necessary
pertinent
correct
right, even, in a moral sensibility.
moving in and out of others' lives
being out of sync most of the time
and trying
to deny and convince
oneself of the yesterdays which are gone
and the tomorrows which may never come
and the todays which are muddled, complicated
and downright, baffling.
yet, we try.
we must.
with each attempt
futile or successful
comes more troubles, ramifications and problems
created by the caring or
by other strange forces upon relationships
power, control, having one's own way
even at the expense of what we hold dear
sacrificing
the one truly great thing
the love of another
which becomes trashed in the efforts to move ahead.
and we are alone
thinking
muddling and
wondering what we could have done differently to have
a more effective outcome.
alas, we have what we have
and it is in the making peace with it which results
in such angst, despair and anger.
