sketching

Sketching leads to drawing leads to Georgia O'Keefe!

1) Take one of her canyon sketches.

2) Use the imagination of her marks and super impose on your
own surroundings: i.e. for me: my backyard and the fall view of
Shackleford Ridge.

3) Place close attention to each mark made. Keep in mind the marks
thick, thin, horizonal, diagonal, etc. etc. are each important to the
whole of the view, of the artist's expression and of the "making" of
the "mark".

4) In this instance: use of cold press watercolor paper (very thick)
helped the pencil to glide, scratch and rough up the surface as desired.

The product is good; the process was even better.
